After reaping national recognition in the PASUC competitions last 2012 in the literary arts category, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College has once again reaped two national recognitions after it secured a 3^rd runner up slot in the Quiz Bowl category and a 4^thrunner up niche in Charcoal Drawing during the recently concluded 7^thPhilippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) National Culture and the Arts Festival held on November 29-December 2, 2015 at the Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay.

Official results obtained from the PASUC Secretariat disclosed that MPSPC’s contestants were the only ones who obtained winning slots in the top 5 for the Cordillera Region. However, the other SUCs in CAR still performed well in their respective categories.

            Dick L. Foyagao, BS Criminology bested 15 other artists from different regions in the Philippines with Region 5, the host region emerging as champion. The subject of the drawing was the world-known perfect cone Mayon Volcano which seats in the host city of Legazpi. Mr. Jay B. Napanoy served as his coach. Dominador Jr. A de Guzman and Rufina A. Taguindodo, both BS Accountancy students and Jimmy Jr. B. Sakoy and Karen B. Dicaleng of the Liberal Arts Department comprised the quiz bee team and were coached by Prof. Daniela P. Chumacog and Prof. Guillermo C. Dilem. Region 11 emerged as quiz champions while the NCR did not seize any spot in the said event.

            The Cordillera region sent a 120-man delegation comprising of student participants and faculty members serving as coaches, fielding a complete roster of contestants in all events except in the contemporary dance competition. Other MPSC coaches were Vadim Viktor C. Ananayo for Live Band, Valerie Kerr P. Guinayen and Jonnelle D. Fagsao for Radio Drama and Mark Preston S. Lopez and Jennifer Ruth C. Tuazon for Indigenous Dance. Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon represented the regional delegation while the college delegation was led by VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco and VP for RGL Prof. Venus Grace K. Fagyan.

            The annual national event is a gathering of undergraduate students from all over the country who compete in four major categories which include the visual arts, the musical arts, the literary competitions and the performing arts (dances). In the special category, Mr. & Miss PASUC 2015, Miss Region 5 (Bicol) notched the Miss PASUC crown, bringing the region its 4^th straight while Mr. Region 4-A (Calabarzon) took home the title Mr. PASUC 2015.

            The participation of the lone state college in Mountain Province has rendered the student-participants an altered mode of education enriched by such experience not only to compete with other students across the country but more importantly to mingle with them and create lasting bonds of friendship despite the geographical barriers. For MPSPC Itself, national competitions have become regular avenues of learning for its students not a far-fetched idea.

            Meanwhile, the association of SUCs in CAR have just concluded the regional CARASUC Sports 2015 today at the Benguet State University. Official results shall be disclosed in the next few days.
