REXTON F. CHAKAS has been the College/Board Secretary of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College from 1993—2014. in 1993—2001, he held the designation of Department Head for the Master in Public Administration program at the MPSPC Graduate School. In 2004, he was designated as Vice President for Administration and Finance, a position he held until June 2006, under OIC-President Juan B. Ngalob and College President Nieves A. Dacyon. In June 2006—May 2010, he was designated as Dean of the MPSPC Graduate School. As Dean he initiated the accreditation of the Graduate School Programs. Dr. Chakas was also designated in other positions such as Director of the Management Information System, Chairman of the Editorial Board, Chairman of the Personnel Selection Board, and Chairman of the Universityhood Taskforce. From 1993 until the present, he is a lecturer and facilitator in all academic programs of the MPSPC Graduate School. In 25 July 2014, he was elected as President of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College. At present, he is serving his second term as College President III.
He finished his AB Political Science degree (cum laude) from the Saint Louis University in 1986. He obtained his MA Public Administration (Meritus) degrees from the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas in 1992 and 2004, respectively. In 2008, he obtained his Diploma in Higher Education Management from Saint Louis University.
Dr. Chakas is married to Masandas Bugnosen Chakas of Besao and Sagada, Mountain Province, with whom he has three children: Maria Deborah Kay “Chuwaley”, Anayah Lois, and Joash Rrex.
