Arel Batcagan Sia-ed

Abstract

This study investigated the school climate and organizational health of the State Colleges and Universities in the Cordillera Administrative Region. The respondents were the presidents, teaching and non-teaching personnel from the six institutions of higher learning in the Cordillera. Two instruments were used in the study: the revised Organizational Climate Description Questionnaire (OCDQ) to the context of College or University and Organizational Health Inventory (OHI). The results indicated that the school climate of the SUCs in CAR is closed. Supportive administrator behavior and collegial employee behavior found significance to the variable job classification. Directive administrator behavior and intimate employee behavior showed significance to the variable length of years as incumbent president. The organizational health was healthy. Leadership style high in consideration and academic emphasis are associated with organizational health as affected by job classification. Sex was not a variable in the perception of school climate and organizational health.

Length of years as incumbent president of the SUC’s in CAR has perceived the organizational health healthy. This healthy environment was greatly affected by the considerate behavior of the administrator. Finally, school climate is correlated with organizational climate. These findings are important in crafting policies, programs and activities to improve the school climate condition and to sustain the healthy organizational health of the SUCs in CAR.
