INTERNSHIP PROGRAM OF MOUNTAIN PROVINCE STATE POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE

ABSTRACT

The Bachelor of Science in Criminology has been offered at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College in 1999 and its first batch graduated in 2003. Since then, the college has been consistent in producing criminologists in which MPSPC is recognized as one of the schools producing organic personnel of the Tri – Bureau of the DILG. As mandated under the CMO, the student should undergo On – The – Job – Training and Community Immersion before he is allowed to graduate. The study was conducted to look into the status of the Criminology Internship Program of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College.

Specifically, it aimed to investigate the level of attainment of the goals and objectives of the criminology internship program, the extent of implementation of the criminology internship program and the extent of effect of factors affecting the implementation of the criminology internship program of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College.

The main data gathering tool was a questionnaire-checklist supported by observation and interview. Informants of the study were fourth year criminology students enrolled in On – The – Job – Training and Community Immersion for the second semester 2014 – 2015 composing 167 and 12 handlers/coordinators with a total of 179. The findings reflect that respondents perceived goals and objectives as moderately attained. The extent of implementation of the program was perceived by respondents as much implemented and the extent of effect of factors affecting the implementation of the program has moderate effect.
