The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is set to establish and maintain its Knowledge Resource Collections (KRC) at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College confirming a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU was signed by the representative of the two parties, Ms. Beta A. Cervantes, Deputy Director, BSP-La Union Regional Office, Dr. Rexton F. Chakas, the College President of MPSPC and witnessed by Allan K. Tabec, OSA-Executive Director, representing the library. This was attended by the library staff of MPSPC and other recipient agencies.
According to Ms. Beta A. Cervantes, Knowledge Resource Collection is part of the BSPβs continuing implementation of the Knowledge Resource Network (KRN) that aims to enhance the studentβs understanding of economic and financial concepts and issues. Thus empowering them to contribute more meaningfully to economic development and benefit better from the opportunities that such development would bring.
Dr. Rexton F. Chakas, delivered a short message on the utilization of the materials. It was mentioned that students who have subjects on financial and business will be benefited on the said reading materials that will be accessed in a room use scheme. Furthermore, Dr. Chakas also mentioned that MPSPC is offering Business Administration and Accountancy wherein they are the target users and beneficiaries of the KRC. He also thanked and acknowledged the effort of the BSP-La Union Regional Office represented by Beta A. Cervantes for coming to update the Knowledge Resource Collection from the previous issues that was displayed and organized at room 101 in the library.
The BSP-Knowledge Resource Collection houses BSP publications such as books, reports, guides, manuals, and primer brochures. Thus, the library will provide space, staff, and Bookshelves to display the KRC; make them discoverable on the library systems and available for use by the library clients.
The MOU stated that BSP will provide print materials and other information as well as online materials and publications through its website. These information resources and services will be made available at MPSPC Library which is accessible through internet access for free.
