Mountain Province State Polytechnic College President Edgar G. Cue represented by Mr. Dexter C. Lingbanan, Vice President for Administration and Finance and Mr. Reynaldo P. Gayo Jr. MPSPC Chief of Staff attended the 37th Mounta Data “Sipat” (Peace Accord) Commemoration which was held at Mount Data Hotel, Mount Data, Bauko, Mountain Province yesterday, September 13, 2023.

The program was graced by the Keynote Speaker Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (PAPRU). “The Sipat has paved the way for the sincere and peaceful negotiation between the government and CBA-CPLA, leading to the establishment of the Cordillera Administrative Region. Thus, Executive Order 220 symbolizes the end of armed conflict in the region. It has also become the mechanism by which the Cordillerans demonstrated their steadfast commitment to peace and unwavering results to push for genuine and meaningful autonomy in the region. The theme of this year's National Peace Consciousness Month celebration is Kapayapaan, Responsibilidad ng Mamamayan or Kappia: Akem ti kada Umili, as we mark this annual event, let us keep in mind that peacebuilding is the responsibility of everyone. It is a call for every Filipino to actively contribute to the nurturing and contribution of mutual understanding across the nation. With this year's Peace Month theme, let us be reminded that peacebuilding is a collective effort where all sectors of society must be involved. It is a client call for everyone to take part in supporting in sustaining peace in the country and we can do this in our own little way and create a real event that will radiate within our families, communities, and beyond. As we commemorate the landmark occasion, we also commend the Cordillera Elders and community leaders who played a key role in the forging of 1986 Sipat. Your contributions have been valuable as you have championed the Cordilleran's journey towards a more peaceful and progressive region.” Secretary Galvez stated.

The activity was highlighted with the symbolic offering or “atang” and the weaving of the 37 Strings of Peace and Unity.

Meanwhile, NEDA Regional Director and Regional Development Council Vice Chair Susan A. Sumbeling in a separate interview acknowledged the attendance and support of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College to the Mount Data Peace Accord.
