In December 2019, the Teacher Education Department initiated the development of undergraduate student research policies and guidelines. Faculty members from both the Bontoc and Tadian campuses were chosen to constitute the committees to craft the policies and guidelines through a memorandum from the Office of the VPAA in January 2020. However, the emergence of the pandemic in 2020 has shifted the focus of the higher education sector to more urgent matters. Thus, only 2 committees from the Bontoc campus who worked on 2 sections – Research Tool Validation and Undergraduate Research Committee – submitted their outputs during the ECQ period in March 2020. In April 2021, the TED leadership re-assigned the committee composition, tapping those who were willing to craft policies because until that time, there were no submissions yet from the original committees. In August 2021, the newly designated authors submitted their outputs, thus completing all the sections of the proposed policies. These same authors were then identified to attend the workshop in Sagada on Sept. 21-22. In 2 weeks, the authors are expected to submit their respective outputs for the compilation, editing, and finalization of the manual for presentation and subsequent approval through standard institutional procedures.
