BONTOC, Mountain Province, Mar. 30. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) awarded here today three Certificates of Compliance (COPC) to Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) on the programs Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd), Bachelor in Elementary Education (BEEd), and Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) effective Academic Year 2016 – 2017.
Quality assurance as mandated by CHED is the “alignment and consistency of the learning environment with the institution’s Vision, Mission, and Goals (VMGO) demonstrated by exceptional learning and service outcomes and the development of a culture of quality.” Thus, ensuring quality education at MPSPC, the College committed itself to achieve quality education involving all of its units and other stakeholders in the process. This is one of the ideals and commitment of the College as it is clearly summarized in its VMGO and thrusts (HERITAGE). This kind of commitment, then, is transformed into having a conviction for Quality Assurance by ensuring that all of its programs meet the minimum requirements set by CHED as indicated in the programs’ respective Policies, Standards and Guidelines (PSGs) through CHED Memorandum Orders (CMOs).
As one of the College mechanisms, the College subjected its programs for CHED evaluations last February 13 to 14 and March 3 this year. As results of these evaluations, Dr. Ma. Geraldine F. Casipit, the OIC Office of the Regional Director of Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Ms. Menchie Kuwengan, the OIC CHED-CAR Chief Education Program Specialist, awarded these COPCs on the said programs of Bontoc Campus at the HRM/T Laboratory.
Dr. Casipit shared during the awarding that the COPCs released are only the partial release of more because additional COPCs will be issued in the next few days. She applauded the College President, Dr. Rexton F. Chakas as well as the people behind the compliance of the requirements, and urged them that they should continue the commitment to further improve the College and its services. She further said that aside from CHED as being regulatory in nature, it is developmental in a way that it is willing to help the College attain its VMGOs.
The awarding was witnessed by the Mr. Rogelio K. Balcita, Jr., Vice President for Administration and Finance, Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Christie Lynne C. Codod, Executive Dean of Bontoc Campus, and Dr. Marcelino P. Gaqui, Jr., Teacher Education Department Chairperson of Bontoc Campus.
It can be noted that for a program to be given COPC means that the program complies with the prescribed minimum requirements of CHED to offer the program, and graduates board programs are allowed to take the board examinations. However, the COPC is subject to revocation if the College fails to maintain the prescribed standards for the program. CHED will continue monitoring the College even after the issuance of COPCs.
At present, the College already received five COPCs that include the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS Crim) and Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) that were issued last May 2015.
