Anchored with the departmental objective to become the center of development for Information Technology (IT) in Mountain Province, the IT Department continually extending their knowledge on ICT to teachers, students and government employees through their various extension program for this school year.
The IT extension services started last School Year 2014-2015 by the former departmental officers assisted by the department faculty members. The said aim is an essential factor in the learning and teaching process inside the classroom as well as to the improvement of government service in the field of ICT focusing on office productivity, basic computer maintenance, educational technology, animation and photo editing, internet, and Web page design.
Charlie David Taynan, the former governor of IT, administered all the necessary papers and documents to be used in the said extension program. Upon the approval of the Vice-President of the Research Development Extension; Director of the Extension Unit, the adviser of the IT Society, the extension formally started at Banguitan National High School (BNHS), Besao Mountain Province on August 9, 2014 with the discussions on Microsoft Publisher 2013 and Microsoft Excel 2013. On August 23, 2014, the extension continued with the topics Microsoft PowerPoint and Photoshop CS6 discussed by officers.
After the extension program in BNHS, IT conducted training for the officers of Philippine National Police in Besao on August 30, 2014. Christian Sumeg-ang, IT Faculty member, discussed Microsoft Office Applications which was later continued by Taynan discussing passwords on Microsoft excel.
On September 6, 2014 IT extension program reaches at Panabungen, Besao Mountain Province. The delegates were divided into two groups: faculty and students. Both of the speakers discussed Microsoft Word since it is the commonly used application on Microsoft. Next topic discussed was Microsoft excel which is a very important tool for the teachers for recording grades and making worksheets for students.
A three-day seminar-workshop for the Bachelor of Elementary Education of MPSPC was also conducted on November 22, 29 and December 6, 2014 on Flash 8 animations, Microsoft Powerpoint, Windows live movie maker, Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop.
For the school year 2015-2016, the IT Department plans to continue surfing for more extension programs in line with the development of the college and community as well. / IT Department/TALA- Mocking Bird
