MPSPC celebrates 26th Charter Anniversary

“You see, the conversion of the Mountain Province Community College into a State College 26 years ago last January 17, 1992 is about change. It was about development. That was our leaders’ contribution to the development and enhancement of tertiary education this side of the Philippines.” Thus, said the College President, Rexton F. Chakas in his Charter Day message during the culminating program of the 26th Charter Anniversary on January 31 at the Eyeb Grandstand.

He impressed upon the audience all the big “first times” the College achieved and accomplished in 2017. He said these feats had brought significant changes in the College, thus, the essence of the Charter Day Celebration was not lost. 

The culminating program was preceded by a parade around the town participated in by all the College officials, students, and faculty and staff.
Gracing the culminating program was NCIP Director Atty. Ronald P. Calde who spoke on how the National Commission on Indigenous People could help the College achieve its vision and mission.

During the program, the two topnotchers of the recent Licensure Examinations for Criminologists were awarded Php 50,000 each as incentives for their achievements and which included certificates of recognition. The Criminology Department was likewise awarded a cash incentive of Php 20,000.
The other highlights of the affair included the mascot competition, the intermission from the champion of the cheerdance competition, and intermission number from the Faculty and Staff Cultural Arts Group and the a choral rendition from the utility group.

The morning activities ended with the inauguration of the BSOA demonstration room and the Nursing Arts room. In the afternoon, the faculty and staff with its annual show “Faculty and Staff Frolics” treated the academic community where they showcased their various abilities in singing, dancing and theatrics.

The 16-day long celebration started with students’ orientation on January 16 followed by a mass, recognition of retirees and the coffee education roadshow on the January 17. On January 18-19, a seminar-workshop on qualitative researches was conducted with Dr. Keith Miller of the Flinders University in Australia as speaker. On January 18-20, the Basic life support seminar was conducted for advisers of the student organization and faculty-coaches. January 22 saw the opening of the Fitness Center while January 26 saw the Mathematics and Science Festival. On January 30, the theater play entitled “Balitok” was showed to the general public.
