BONTOC- Job seekers herded to the Jobs Fair of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) thru its Alumni Relations and Job Placement Office (ARJPO). The event was held at the College Auditorium from April 26-27, 2018 as part of the celebration of the 49th MPSPC Foundation Anniversary with the theme: “Sustaining Breakthroughs in Education, Realizing Ambisyon Natin 2040”.

 The objectives of the affair are: 1) to ease the hiring essentials of local and overseas companies; 2) to meet the employment needs of MPSPC graduates; 3) to offer a venue to bring together employers and MPSPC alumni job seekers; 4) to stimulate and encourage the local economic and employment climate; and 5) to decrease the unemployment rate of MPSPC graduates.

   

The event was participated in by fifteen (15) agencies, five (5)overseas and ten (10) local, specifically Rio Chico Marketing, Biomate Corporation, AIP Constructions, Ecumenical Church Foundation Incorporated (ECLOF), Summit Bank, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-CAR (PDEA-CAR), Sitel Baguio, Noble Trends Unbound, Inc. (NTU), SM Supermarket Baguio, Cordillera Community Microfinance Incorporated (CCMI), Placewell International Service Corporation, Androme Recruitment and Management Services, Filipino Academe for Arts and Skills Incorporated (FAASI) International Corporation, Pacific Star International Employment Agency and God’s Will International Placement, Inc.

Data from the ARJPO showed that over 1053 job vacancies were offered by the participating agencies. Out of 250 job hunters who registered for the jobs fair, 199 were deemed qualified for the jobs they applied for while 32 were not qualified. Among the qualified applicants, six (6) were hired on the spot. The 32 applicants who did not qualify are undergraduates and thus have no eligibilities. According to Carolyne Dale A. Castañeda, ARJPO Coordinator, another round of Jobs Fair will be held in August this year just after the pre-employment orientation seminar and the graduation ceremonies of the MPSPC graduating students. /nbfg/
