The MPSPC Employees dubbed as Warriors ardently participated in the Association of State Colleges and Universities- Solid North (ASCU-SN) Olympics at the Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet last June 19-21. MPSPC ranked 2nd Runner-up during the event with 120 vigorous employee-athletes winning six (6) gold, eight (8) silver,
and nine (9) bronze medals while Benguet State University (BSU) and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) placed Champion (20-13-10) and 1st Runner-up (12-12-13) respectively.
MPSPC bets Alvin Geoffrey Ticangan and Sylesia Pangesfan won as Mr and Ms ASCU-SN 2018 Second Runner-ups as they glamorously captivated the Board of Judges and the audience with their alluring physique and wit. Moreover, MPSPC Volleyball Women’s Gretchen Fuchadcha was awarded as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the volleyball games, Gigie Kunyap B. Macgui-ing as the best setter and Barbara Rita Longi as the best receiver.
ASCU-SN Olympics is an annual sports festival of faculty members and staff of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region I, Region II and III. In this year’s Olympics, there were 23 participating schools namely Benguet State University, Ifugao State University, Kalinga State University, Apayao State College, Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, MPSPC, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, Mariano Memorial State University, Pampanga State Agricultural University, Pangasinan State University, Tarlac State University, Tarlac Agricultural University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Cagayan State University, Bulacan State University, Batanes State College, Central Luzon State University, Isabela State University, North Luzon Philippines State College, Quirino State University, Ramon Magsaysay Technological University and University of Northern Philippines.
The various competed events are Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Chess, Table Tennis, Futsal, Cycling, Lawn Tennis, Track events, Fun run, Fun shoot, Darts, Softball, Slow-pitch, Musical and Ballroom competitions, and Search for Mr and Ms ASCU-SN 2018. MPSPC employee-athletes gladsomely landed as Champions, First-runner up and Second runner-up placers in their respective line of sports.
According to Ms. Venus Naida P. Bawiyan, the newly designated MPSPC Director for Sports and Athletics, MPSPC can do much better if a whole year training is strictly observed. She suggested that the Thursday Hataw Day should be allotted for training and fitness.
