With the challenges posed on the youth today, it is the responsibility of the youth sector to conceptualize innovative leadership trainings and other significant events that would help build capacities and skills among the young leaders. More importantly, this shall equip the youth on how to oppose the enemy’s propaganda, communist recruitment, and infiltration strategies among the youths.

  The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) Youth Advocate Leaders joins the Nationwide Youth Leadership Conference Innovation (NYLCI) held last April 17 – 21 at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet. The event stroked to regenerate the aspirations among the youth and it established the connections guided by the five core concepts: Faith, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Environment and Tourism (FLEET). The event also highlighted the vital ideas of our purpose as God’s creation: the essence of effective leadership in business, and in the act of service; and the natural beauty of Baguio as one of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines.

The affair was entailed by 11 plenary sessions led by the following competent, credible, and inspiring nationwide speakers. They are: PCSUPT Ulysses J. Abellera (Regional Director, Police Regional Office-Cordillera), Ms. Florencia Casanova-Dorotan (Undersecretary and Deputy Director General, National Anti-Poverty Commission), Undersecretary Robert Francis B. Garcia (Political Adviser on Political Affairs), Lt. Errol N. Dela Cruz (Philippine Navy, Director at Naval Officers Basic School and Former Consultant at L Square Hotel), PCIns Gemma Vidal Braganza (Chief of Police, Pinukpuk, Kalinga, One of the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines), Commander Rafael Tiu Enriquez (National Executive Commanding Director, RAPID), Ma. Encarnita B. Limpin (MD, FPCP, FPCCP), Ms. Rafaela “Paeng” David (Akbayan Youth Chairperson),Mr. Rafael Tallocoy (Executive Secretary of Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Baguio City Mayor), Ms. Ninian Sumadia (National Anti-Poverty Commission Youth and Student Sector Representative ,General i Convener of Youth for Environment and Social Justice), and Atty. Persida V. Rueda-Acosta(Chief Public Attorney, Public Attorney’s Office).In this five-day event, student leaders, Out of School Youths, Youth Leaders, and young professionals from different organizations (government and non- government) was given the  chance to interact and share more innovative projects and best practices that they have in their respective provinces, regions and countries.

Mr. Merconie B. Ensoy (Young Professional from Mindanao) and Ms. Carolyne Dale A. Castañeda (MPSPC) were proclaimed as Mr. and Ms. NYLCI 2016 as they showcased their leadership excellence and the best of their competencies.

Furthermore, five (5) youth advocate leaders of MPSPC were elected and put into major errands as officers of the NYLCI: Carolyne Dale A. Castañeda, Project Director, Kristine K. Wali, Finance Officer, Nicole Bryle F. Gut-omen, Press Relations Officer, Jimmy Jr. B. Sakoy, Luzon Coordinator, and Augie Mhar M. Egangan, Cordillera Administrative Region Representative.

The officers were elected by their fellow nationwide youth leaders and it was through ‘viva voce’. The NYLCI is scheduled tentatively on May 2017 at Cebu City.—Nicole Bryle F. Gut-omen
