Commission on Higher Education- Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) Director Dr. Ma. Geraldine F. Casipit graced the commencement exercises of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College- Paracelis Campus on May 30, 2019.

She assured the students and the community of additional program offerings as manifested in the survey conducted by the College earlier this year.

This year’s commencement exercises produced one cum laude in the person of Ms. Cristalyn B. Sabado among the Six (6) graduates for Bachelor in Agricultural Technology and five (5) graduates for Diploma in Agricultural Technology. The commencement exercises also marked the first utilization of the newly contructed Paracelis Campus building. It must be noted that in the prior years, they have been utilizing the old DepEd classrooms not being utilized due to its newly built buildings which they are using until day.

Several College Officials led by the College President Dr. Rexton F. Chakas including the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Emily Ann B. Marrero and Vice President for Administration and Finance Mr. Rogelio K. Balcita Jr, directors, department chairpersons, teaching and non-teaching staff of MPSPC Bontoc and Tadian campus joined the meritorious ceremony in support to the campus.

“MPSPC for the past years has kept its momentum in bringing quality and excellence by complying with the policies, standards and guidelines of its programs. May this further be felt in this campus as it is in the institution’s continuous determination to embrace excellence in all its programs. Today also marks MPSPC’s history for this is the first time that this event has been an accomplished milestone with the support of the LGUs. Such endeavor would help alleviate the social and economic milieu of the place, making them self-reliant and providers of productive citizens here in Paracelis and in the neighboring communities,” said Director Casipit in her message.

She also replied to the request of the College and the community concerning the opening of additional programs with a call for a collaborative effort from everyone to make this happen.

“Our office was very much delighted to know that many people value education this much, and the College has been very fast in processing this demanded programs. Let us then collaboratively exert effort to do our part for this to happen,” she added.

It must be recalled that the continuous development of the Paracelis campus boosted during the term of Dr. Rexton F. Chakas. The box typed unpolished building as defined by Director Casipit may seem incapable for learning, but it was later appreciated by the latter that this building contains furnished rooms conducive for learning- teaching fora and learning opportunities.

Dr. Chakas commended Director Casipit for accepting the invitation as the guest of honor and speaker for the event. He also guaranteed the community that the College will exert much effort and meet all the documents being required for the approval of these demands.

“The College Board of Trustees has already approved additional budget purposely for the improvement and construction of infrastructure projects needed for the advancement and development of Paracelis campus. In this way, it will give us enough facilities and classrooms for the additional programs which you as a community demanded,” Dr. Chakas announced during the program.

He then applauded the members of the community who made significant contributions to the creation of the Paracelis campus especially former Mayor Gavino L. Bucok and former Councilor Ernesto B. Gunday who urged College President Chakas for the opening of a campus in Paracelis in his early term. // WB Taltala
