BAGUIO CITY - Two graduates of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) are among the Top 10 in the 58th Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines – Cordillera Administrative Region (TOSP-CAR) in the Awarding Ceremony held at Hotel Supreme, July 15.

 Shyla B. Alsaen and Sheeren F. Padchonga, both cum laude graduates of MPSPC joined the formation program and series of screening process last July 12-15 together with other finalists from CAR.

Alsaen from Dacudac, Tadian graduated with a degree of Bachelor in Agricultural Technology.

She served as student trustee in MPSPC Governing Board from August 2018 to May 2019. Moreover, Alsaen is a former President of the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of MPSPC Tadian Campus and Sangguniang Kabataan Kagawad in their barangay

“I never thought of these opportunities to come my way, I only fulfilled the responsibilities set on the choices I made. I know that all my good works, perseverance, and patience that I invested bore good fruit,” Alsaen shared in an interview.

Padchonga from Bontoc graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Padchonga is a former secretary of SSG Bontoc Campus from School Year 2017 to 2019. Prior to this, she served in departmental and institutional organizations of MPSPC, and the community.

“To be qualified for TOSP Search will not only benefit myself but more so with my alma mater – MPSPC. It is my greatest hope that the institution where I came from will continue to be noticed locally, nationally, and internationally,” Padchonga said.

As an incumbent Sanguniang Kabataan Kagawad, Padchonga was able to visualize and implement activities for the welfare of youths such as leadership workshops and anti – illegal drugs campaign.

The rigorous process started from the submission of bid books, formation program and final interview to determine who will represent the region to the 58th TOSP (National Level).
