As part of the College Administration’s pursuit for providing quality public service to its clientele, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College installed an elevator in the newly constructed Administration building in the Bontoc campus, which caters to the needs of employees, students and its clientele, particularly for persons with disabilities. After the two-week trial period and final inspection, the College Engineer’s Office initially accepted the operation of the elevator and is now in full utilization.
However, this period shall extend for a year, and in the absence of defects or malfunctions within the said period, the College will enter into a contract with the ADL General Construction, the project contractor, for continuous maintenance.
According to the ADL General Construction, the elevator is energy efficient because of less electricity consumption. An observation must also be done since the circuit breaker of the elevator is separated. “The elevator has its own safety measures that whenever there is overloading, a light keeps on blinking and the elevator will not close or move until the weight will be reduced. This will also tend to the needs of Person With Disabilities (PWDs) who want to access and visit the offices,” added Engr. Dalmacio.
The project contractor also conducted an orientation for Engr. Dalmacio, Engr. Kevin Kapawen, Security guards, the Director for General Services Office, electricians and the staff of the College Engineer’s Office regarding the operation of the elevator. The said orientation aimed to enable concerned personnel of the College to attend to or resolve minor defects or troubles that may emerge within the daily operation of the elevator. However, if the defects are beyond the control of concerned personnel of the College, these issues need to be referred to the construction company for their attention and action.
