The Research Development and Extension (RDE) Unit of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) sent two (2) joint research papers abroad for international presentation specifically the United States of America (USA) and Canada. Authors of these research papers are Dr. Edgar Cue from the Hotel and Restaurant Management and Tourism (HRMT) Department and Mr. Jay Maris Ayochok from the Liberal Arts (LA) Department.
Dr. Cue presented the first research entitled “Sagada of the Highlands: Firming up its Tourism Industry - A Grassroots Level Perspective” on May 23-27 at the Harvard Medical School.
The research undertaking determined the destination areas that are found in the municipality of Sagada, the level of acceptance of the respondents on the various problems brought about by tourism in the municipality, and the various developmental programs or projects that would resolve problems and issues brought about by tourism in the municipality to boost the tourism industry of this town.
After his presentation in the United States, Dr. Cue presented their second research at the Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada on May 31 – June 3. The title of their research is “Empowering Communities in Mountain Province: the National Training Service Program (NSTP) Approach.
The research determined the level of perception of the respondents on the specific provisions of the National Service Training Program (NSTP), the perception of the respondents on the importance of the NSTP towards the empowerment of barangays in Mountain Province, and the possible supports that the communities can offer to further strengthen the delivery of the NSTP.
These researches will be published by the International Journal of Arts and Sciences (IJAS). Meanwhile, the abstracts of these papers can now be seen online however, details of the said papers will be posted later. /Jay Maris C. Ayochok
