A total of 474 saplings, consisting of 300 pine saplings (from DENR) and 174 assorted saplings (from MPSPC) were successfully planted at Latang, Tocucan, Bontoc on September 13, 2023. This was spearheaded by MPSPC in collaboration with LGU of Tocucan and DENR-CAR-CENRO-Sabangan. The MPSPC faculty, students, officers of MPSPC-ROTC Unit, and Mr. Roden Ogsar, DENR-CAR-CENRO representative, actively participated in the event.

Climate change is no longer just an environmental issue; it is now a social issue requiring immediate action by all sectors of the community to break its ripple effects. MPSPC, as an education sector, holds a big responsibility in contributing to the realization of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including climate mitigation. One of the best ways for the college to heed to this call is to plant trees on barren mountains. The activity was aligned to 5 SDGs, namely: SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being; SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 13 Climate Action; SDG 15 Life on Land; and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals. Paying tribute to our Mother Earth is not only a matter of environmental care but also of sustainability.
