The different presidents of the Cordillera Administrative Region state universities and colleges (CARSUCs) and the regional director of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) met with Senator Loren Legarda for various research and innovation initiatives in the region at the Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City, yesterday on May 23, 2023.


Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) President Dr. Edgar G. Cue joined other presidents in presenting and submitting their respective institutional project proposals on various research and innovations. CHED RD Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr. also pitched in one of the regional Commission's banner programs particularly Project MASAGANA for   consideration in the budget appropriations.

The said session was an offshoot of a meeting of CARSUCs presidents and RD Anduyan with Sen. Legarda and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman more than a month ago.

Sen. Legarda expressed her full support and funding commitment to the initiatives of CARSUCs and CHED-CAR which come as part of her advocacies and works.



Sen. Angara pledges support for research on 'Tatak Pinoy'

Meanwhile, Sen. Sonny M. Angara also pledged his commitment in furthering research development in consonance with his Tatak Pinoy Program.

Senator Robinhood Padilla, on the other hand, committed to sponsor the Cordillera Regional Autonomy.

Also present were Kalinga State University (KSU) President Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang, Abra State Institute of Science & Technology (ASIST) President Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, Jr, Benguet State University (BSU)President Dr. Felipe Salaing Comila, and Apayao State College (ASC) President John Cabansag, and Ifugao State University (IFSU) President Eva Marie C. Dugyon, represented by IFSU University Professor Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon.
