Today, September 7, 2023, student interns from the Criminology, Teacher Education, and Accountancy Departments took part in the Pre-Internship Orientation and Psychological Testing at the College Auditorium. The event aimed to provide these interns with the necessary information and support to excel in their upcoming internships.
 
Representing the Executive Dean for Bontoc campus, Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed, Dr. Edgar Mapangdol, the Chairperson of the Criminology Department, emphasized the importance of approaching the internship with seriousness. He highlighted how it contributes to career and character development, opening doors to opportunities, and real-life application. Atty. Ester Rose S. Alikes discussed Work Ethics and the RA 7877 otherwise known as the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act and RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act of 2019. These topics were crucial in ensuring that interns are aware of their rights and responsibilities in the workplace. Mr. Joseph Brillantes, the College Nurse, stressed the significance of obtaining medical certificates and vaccinations before interns are deployed. This ensures their health and safety during their internships. Ms. Jiselle Q. Bayangdan, the coordinator for the Student Internship Program of the Philippines (SIPP), reminded students of the necessary requirements for their internships. This ensured that they were well-prepared and had all the necessary documents in place.
 
To conclude the orientation, Mr. Jayson E. Imatong, the Dean of the Student Services and Development Office, wished the interns success in their upcoming internships. He also assured them of the support they can expect from the College's SIPP office throughout their internship journey. Prior to the orientation, the Office of Guidance and Counseling conducted a Psychological Test. This test aimed to assess the interns' psychological well-being and preparedness for their internships.
 
Overall, this event played a crucial role in preparing the student interns for their upcoming internships. It ensured that they were well-informed, equipped, and ready to succeed in their respective fields of study.
