Dr. Mark Preston Lopez served as one of the Keynote Speakers in a virtual conference organized by the National Research Network of Teacher Training of Language Teachers based in Guanajato, Mexico. He presented their study “Intersections of Teachers’ Instructional and Assessment Practices, Translanguaging, and Critical Pedagogy: A Case Study in Northern Philippines” (Co-authors: Dr. Willow F. Pangket and Dr. Maria Coady of North Carolina State University, USA) which touched on social justice, educational equity, and quality learning for high school English learners in school districts in the Cordillera region.
 
His keynote presentation was virtually attended by an international audience while an engaged discussion ensued during the open forum. The study was recently conferred Best Paper (Education category during the CorCAARRD 2023 Regional Symposium hosted by the Apayao State College.
