In his message, Cue emphasized Rizal as a symbol of Philippine Independence by igniting the flame among Filipino citizens to fight for independence. He also urged the public to continue protect, preserve, and uphold our Filipino values while fostering inclusivity, solidarity, integrity and patriotism while rooted in our cultural heritage.

"Let us rekindle in our hearts the strong sense of nationhood and camaraderie that enabled our forebears to rise and fight against tyranny and build our society bounded by the lessons of history," added Cue.

Part of the program was also the wreath laying rite, a traditional practice laid at a grave or memorial site that served as a formal sign of respect to a departed individual for his or her extraordinary service to the country.
