Two faculty researchers from the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) in the Northern Philippines have clinched awards following their presentations at the 2nd Davao Occidental Multidisciplinary Research Conference. The event, hosted on February 7, 2024, at the Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology in Davao Occidental, showcased research from diverse fields.

Dr. Lichelyn M. Nasungan received the Third Best Paper award for her study on the ‘Potential Cytotoxic Effects of Albostra (Arcangelisia flava (L.) Merr.) Methanolic Extract Using Allium Cepa Test’ within the thematic area of Agriculture, Fisheries, Natural Resources, and Resilience. Meanwhile, the scholarly work of Dr. Jonnelle D. Fagsao, titled ‘Sporting Metaphors in the Context of Sports Cultural Discourse in Mountain Province: A Corpus – Informed Study,’ claimed the Second Best Paper award under the thematic area of Social, Cultural Development, Health, and Wellness.
 
Joining their ranks, four additional researchers from MPSPC showcased their contributions to academia during the conference. Dr. Claire Kaplaan P. Lafadchan presented a collaborative study titled “Netiquette Problems at MPSPC: A Basis for Proposed Interventions,” shedding light on essential issues in digital communication etiquette. Dr. Georgina P. Maskay shared insights into the “Lived Experiences of Nurses Infected With COVID-19,” addressing the critical challenges faced by frontline healthcare workers. Ms. Luzlyn M. Agwilang delved into the “Perspectives and Core Justifications on The Protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions of Mountain Province,” emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Lastly, Mr. Somerson Kis-ing presented his study on the “MPSPC Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Grantees’ Management of their TES Allowance,” contributing valuable insights into educational subsidy management practices.
 
The success of MPSPC researchers at the conference not only highlights the institution's commitment to academic excellence but also underscores its dedication to addressing pressing issues across various disciplines. These accolades serve as a testament to the quality and relevance of research emanating from MPSPC, further solidifying its position as a hub of scholarly innovation in the Philippines.
