Dr. Patricia Martinez-Alvarez, from the Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, USA, and the MPSPC’s Fulbright Specialist through the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Director for Instruction is currently conducting a seminar-workshop on Exploring Online Technology Use for Teaching and Learning to faculty members of Bontoc campus.


MPSPC College President Dr. Edgar G. Cue represented by the Executive Dean for Bontoc Campus, Dr. Arel B. Sia-ed stressed in his message the essential roles of technology in the modern classroom. Dr. Sia-ed delivered, “The 21st-century learner demands a shift from the traditional teacher-centered approach. Educational technology provides us with unparalleled opportunities to transform the teaching-learning process into a dynamic and interactive experience -one that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Yet, despite the diversity of our learners, these digital technologies could cater to these diverse needs of our students in that it makes learning more personalized, more accessible, and more relatable to life. However, amidst these opportunities that technology offers are also challenges that demand our attention. But one with a "futures" mindset, we must embrace what has already been here and maximize the same optimum learning. We innovative along these innovations.”

In her Opening Remarks, the Vice President for Research Development and Extension, Dr. Epiphania B. Magwilang said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of online technology in teaching and learning. It made us realize the full potential and the boundless possibilities of using educational technology to support the teaching-learning environment. And so, we are very thankful to the Office of the Director of Instruction for organizing this activity. With our Fulbright specialist, Dr. Patricia, let us be open to learning technologies that we could use to enrich our strategies of teaching and assessing our students.”

The Director for Instruction, Dr. Rhoda B. Galangco then introduced the speaker for the event. The Tadian Campus is scheduled to have the same seminar-workshop tomorrow, May 26, 2023.
