            After reaping national recognition in the PASUC competitions last 2012 in the literary arts category, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College has once again reaped two national recognitions after it secured a 3rd runner up slot in the Quiz Bowl category and a 4thrunner up niche in Charcoal Drawing during the recently concluded 7thPhilippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) National Culture and the Arts Festival held on November 29-December 2, 2015 at the Bicol University in Legazpi City, Albay.

                 With a meagre 14 golds, 35 silvers and 30 bronzes in the final medal tally, the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College ended 3rd runner in the over-all ranking during the recently-concluded CARASUC Games 2015 held on December 2-6, 2015 at the Benguet State University. This has, so far, been the lowest rank that the college has unfortunately achieved in the history of its participation in the regional games.  In a phone interview with the College President, Dr. Rexton F. Chakas, he said, “MPSPC athletes did well even though the College did not send a full delegation to the regional competitions.” MPSPC Sports Director Charlie Wrykan S. Engngeg also averred that the performance of other SUCs like the Ifugao State University (IFSU) and the Apayao State College (ASC) have levelled up in their performances this year; perhaps, they prepared for the meet at an earlier time.

Turning into the so-called golden age and seizing the opportunity to help a sick person was the idea that defined the 50thbirthday celebration of Dr. Rexton F. Chakas, MPSPC President last November 19, 2015. It was a classic case of altruism and magnanimity that a servant leader could exhibit, that instead of hosting a lavish merriment that usually comes with “power” had rather committed himself to a noteworthy cause of extending help to those in need.  It is also an appropriate exemplar of “actions speak louder than words” and “walk your talk” that defines this present leadership of an academic institution that is confronted with various and inevitable academic, social and moral concerns through the years.
